So after 2 day's I was finely with a lot of help from the internet able to get slackware up and running on my old laptop. Slackware so far has been extremely stable, the only real issues I have had with it was getting they applications I use on a regular basis installed within the system. after i learned of slackbuilds and sbopkg it was much easier. Still some of the slackbuilds did not work and i had to build from source. not really and issue but downloading binary's from repositories is much faster, but faster does not always mean better.
